dark and foggy night,

Had an unusual experience last night. It happened about
11:30 last night. I had a soft ball game and went shopping afterwards stopped at the office to finish some paper work so it was about 11:30 by the time I hit the road for home. Well I have about a 35 minute commute, was a very dark night sorta foggy too. When far ahead of me on the interstate highway I see a car Start shooting out sparks and flames. I immediately begin to slow down. As I come up to the scene there is a man
holding a young boy in his arm waving me down. I pull past
the car and the man runs up to me, shouting “My car caught
fire!” fortunately by this time the fire has already gone out.
I ask did you call the police he said he does not have a cell
Phone. I offer mine and while he is on the phone with the police His boy “Shamus” ask how will we get home? I promise him that I will take him home tonight., and not to worry everything will Be alright.. The driver then calls a neighbor who has a towing service to come and get his Jeep, but they are over an hour away. Finally the police come and write up a report, they ask about the Jeep the driver says he has some one coming. I tell the police that I will stay until the tow truck get there. Finally the police leave and the driver
(I still don’t know his name) his little boy shamus and I go back to my mini van and settled down and wait for the tow truck. While we wait I come to learn that he , like myself is a single dad. He didn’t want to leave his jeep because all of his tree cutting equipment was in the
back of the jeep and that is his livelihood. We had a wonderful conversation and it was amazing how similar our experiences have been. But the best part was looking back into my back seat and seeing his little Shamus asleep with a blanket over him. How peaceful, Gods little angels, The memories it brought back , I started to cry but I covered it up,
I didn’t want my new friend to see. Soon the tow truck arrive it was already about 3 am. They got the Jeep in the tow truck, All we had to do was wake up Shamus and they would be off. But 2 things happened b4 they left My friend insisted that I take a $50 bill from him. I told him that was not
Necessary, he insisted and dropped on my center console, I told him it would by going to the collection plate on Sunday , he smiled and said “good”.
But the next thing was even more special, as they were leaving Shamus came up to me and gave me the biggest hug. I almost couldn’t let go. There can be no greater feeling In the world than giving a small child comfort.
I haven’t felt that good and that sad in a long time.

That is such a nice story!! I can totally relate to your experience of holding that little boy. I taught preschool for about 2 or 3 years before I could not go without kids with me all the time. Then I became a foster parent! I adopted my daugter 6 years ago in October!!!! I have gone 8 days without her and I have 2 more to go!!!!! I AM GOING INSANE!!!! She on the other hand is having the time of her life!!!

It was very nice of you to help that gentleman and his son. They will remember your kindness for years to come!!!!innocent applause
You are truly an angel among us. Not many people would have pulled over and helped strangers -- at least not these days. Thank you for sharing your heart warming experience.
