The "sad truth" is in fact a sad truth, but it is also not a new thing. This has happened throughout history. All so-called great leaders leave a trail of death, unfortunately. History is written by those who win the war, so expect no honesty there.

Having said that, I disagree with your second point saying that the US is responsible for Pakistan's problems. P. had problems long before the US got there (i.e. with India) and you know it.
