Friend or Foe?

Im getting an impression that use of this site (as well as others)is risky business in allowing yourself to get to know anybody.
It would be a real drag for someone who holds trust high on their must have list to put so much energy into someone and find out they are non existent.
Alot like in the day to day world for sure but you read signs. What is your view on avoiding this?
How do you get past the flags and let in the flame?
I am assuming lots of time..and would be great to hear of success stories rather than the opposite majority of the time. I guess if your successful your not on this site!!...lol

You will get to know in time.
But yes it is hard without the visual stimulus of body language to differ profiles so common sense should be used. Look for active profiles in blogs, fourms and groups and other things. Im only discovering half the stuff on CS at the moment. You can get a grasp of someone from their active history . Its not 100% but What is.

willow.. I've been on the blogs for a few months now... and believe me some couples have formed.. Most that have formed a couple have left the site ofcourse.. But as you can see somewhere in this list is a blog by a guy called checkers.. HE met his woman here and they recently gotten married. I guess it will be just a matter of time before they get to busy with normal life, enjoying eachother and they won't be here as often as they used to be. but they have found what we are all looking for.. so who could blame them for becoming to busy loving eachother. For some it might never come so far.. But I do believe all of us should have hope, because I know it has happened before, its happening now, and it will happen to others in the future.

Have to be honest I dont understand what this means. How can you put energy into someone that doesnt exist?

Yes, it's true that you can be fooled by a liar and a faker. It happens all the time. I think you just have to be extra careful on the internet. Or cynical like some people are and you'll never get fooled but you may lose out on a good relationship!

This site is just fun and doesn't meter my success!

I agree willow. Just gotta keep your guard up at all times. Even when you let yourself get to know someone, you still have to have your guard up, at least until you have met them and can form a deeper trust. Good Luck to you.

it is easy being cynical as it is a cynical world to which we now belong,
What is hardest, is being trusting, as no one wants their trust betrayed.

My belief is that a mixture of cynicism mixed with some trust stirred by common sense, should be enough to prevail in most situations.....

Yes, in all sites there are moshchenik, but it not to mean that we shouldn't trust. After all it is fine when hundreds people not important what religion and race simply correspond, share thoughts, and simply are on friendly terms. Let's be on friendly terms the whole world! ! !
