finished reading Cold Mountain last night, did Inm
...the ending was a bit disappointing.
there was mention of a girl in it who called Ada 'mama', so I assume that in the last dying moments after being shot that Inman, writhing there in the snow in agony of death throes, must have found inhuman strength that surpassed his pain, threw off his clothes, Ada the same, and scrabbled in the snow to have their first nookie 
whereby Ada conceived their lovechild, forever to be fatherless 
Kinda makes me not want to bother renting the movie
other than that I enjoyed the book
