Dating before relationship or marriage is the way how to get know each other indeed and to realize if couple is compatible or not.
European marry when men are from 38- 45 and they want to have child/ children or family generally, or they want to " settle down".
Majority young women get married when they are over 30, and again, they want children and family. Both want the same, that is the best situation.
Nobody would risk to get married without dating...even short dating for several months!
Shorty, we face absolutely different life experience and lifestyle and therefore dating is a necessity before any relationship even marriage, which has become serious and responsible matter for eachone. To live with someone as equal partners is responsible hard work 24/7. Marriage works when both cooperate. No tradition or religion or family can influence our choice and actions.

And I would hope i would not be the same person I was 10 years ago otherwise that would be a failure in self development
I love that I dont have to get married thanks to the advances in our legal system over the decades. Just got to sort out pay equality in this country.
