My guess is that you recently installed a "free" software program. Some of these are not truly free as they also install advertising programs.
One gentleman at work brought me his home computer to fix... he had installed language translation software from the web... then ads starting showing up.
I think you mentioned being able to take it to tech support at work ... they'll know what to do.
