HR! What a Laugh!

I have recently gone to Human Resources Department for a couple of matters that were really bothering me.

In a former job the company refused to buy parts we needed for the equipment. Things as simple as hose clamps because the budget was exceeded. Parts were always being pirated by other employees because they ruined theirs.

In the current job a vendor's employee's that delivers the finished product to our sellers refused to clean up after themselves after they had lunch. Since they were not employees of the company they had to eat their lunch in their vehicles. These men strew half eaten lunches, beer cans and medicinal marijuana vials all over the parking lot.

I took these problems to HR and all they did was absolutely nothing. When they answer the phone and you state your problem they pullout a form with questions they ask you which are so idiotically irrelevant you sit there and ask, "Say what"? Are we even discussing this intelligently or is your form questionnaire getting in the way?

I left the first company and let them deal with the parts problem. The second company, where I still work, the HR lady did...nothing!

Ahhhh! The HR fix was supposed to correct problems, but the bottom line is that companies just found a new way to still ignore things under the disguise of being "professional"!

Has anybody had similar problems? Tell us because I'm sure they're just as hilariously bad!

I'm retired now, but the HR where I was working the people there mostly new at the job started recruiting new employees, family and friends that is.mumbling
@ Ed,,,,i am with a large retail company,,and we have open door policy. I have never used HR, but have heard of a little success from them,,,,but you have to follow all the steps before going to them....wow and they call this open door,,,dunno
hi ed well the bottom line with all HR is that they are there for company and not for the employee,if you cause a problem they come down on you like a ton of bricks,
but when you have a problem they are no way worried about it as it is your problem,
and that is HR world wide,,
human resources.. they are not company proganda very much so ,,that is the way of the world today,
if you work for a big concern then you are just a number or a small cog in the big wheel of things,
yet if you work for a small operation then you are an asset to them hence they do listen to you and they also act as well ,,,
I had HR and the Union after me at the same time.
Try that for fun.rolling on the floor laughing
I still don't trust them but they seem to be o.k. now.
They know I am prepared.head banger
Its truegrin
handshake Ed, wish I could complain to HR...moping
Try to complain to an HR Dept that's 300 kms from your actual place of work!!!...

To complicate things your office hours are different to theirs...

doh
Wow!

I just got back from work and I was surprised with the responses. Thanks to everyone that jumped in!!!

Ken!

The glitch with the hose clamps was this. We used high pressure hoses to wash huge vats and machinery. The hoses were so worn out that we had to trim the "connection" end when they became torn and frayed from sharp bending. A small 39 cent hose clamp was needed and they didn't have it in stock, yes, because the budget was exceeded.

The delivery vendors worked night hours when the plant was closed and the only one with the company was the man releasing the merchandise to them and driving the fork lift to load the trucks. There was no possible way these men could have been allowed to roam in the warehouse.

Again, thanks to everyone. I had fun reading your responses. And the truth is O just gave up and had a laugh at the HR people.
Okay, understood. I once did construction work for a week or so at a major famous law firm's HQ where they were having a swimming pool installed 20 stories up and after the first day they opined there that we were all too scruffy dressed for their cafeteria and only folks wearing suits and ties or women in business suits could access it. Then they opined we should use the fire stairs instead of the elevator for the same reason. They wanted their clients to only see upscale folk, not workmen in work clothes. They didn't get their way on that and their unhappiness became manifest when some workers got some play from some of the admin women working there and they complained about that too.
Ken!

Sorry for the late answer!

Yeah! Rich, successful people seem to always act like that. But that's their problem EXCEPT the elevator. That's where I would draw the line and look somewhere else for a job!

Newspapers like stories like that!
