Console Gaming
So, I came to a realization while playing on my PS2. Console games are like personal journeys. You can play at your own speed and enjoy the adventure. You can press START and pause it at any time, and you are not dependent upon those around you.WoW...not so much. I never seemed to find it calming to the degree that I find a game like Spyro or Okami. Sure, I mean don't get me wrong, I do love being an elf, but it's just missing that element of magic that many of my PS games have programed lovingly within them. There aren't people constantly bitching at each other in the bottom left corner of the screen, and as I mentioned above, you can work through it at your own speed. I mean, some games I whip through multiple times, like the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, but others, like Spyro, make me want to just mosey around and collect things.
I can't even imagine trying to beat any of the bosses from Shadow of the Colossus in the context of WoW. I couldn't imagine stunning the flying boss as he swoops down or climbing to the top of the final boss only to use divine storm a few times to drain him of HP. No, no, no.
Merely hanging on is a large part of the journey.

When I was still playing WoW I used to enjoy doing silly things on my own with my hunter. Solo Scholomance? Check. Solo world "group bosses"? Check. I made dozens of solo runs in Stratholme until I got the Woolies of the Prancing Minstrel (yes, on a hunter). All those were accompanied with a healthy number of failures, deaths, and repair bills. But it's something you just can't do in a group.
It was during the first expansion that I figured that I had simply stopped enjoying the group part of WoW, so I went back to my single player games.
