Nam if I understand your questioncorrectly.

You have the person's best interest at heart.
at all times.

You don't backstabb.

You are there for them when they need you.

You have the highest respect for them.

You also know that you are able to tell that person anything and you know that with all certainty it won't go any further than the two of you.

Also similar to a love relationship without trust and communication it's most certainly not a friendship after all.
It simply depends on the level of reciprocity one would expect from another. I should think.

where friendship is concerned, Expect nothing and you will lose nothing,
expect everything and lose it all. dunno
Depends Nam, I have so many friends, at least on virtual world, per my profile, at least 32 but of those, there is only one or two that I am communicating with. The rest is in reality don't even qualify to be friends as there is no on going connection that truly describe a friendship.

However in real life, I only have three at the moment. One who's been my friend since College and one after I graduated and started teaching and the third is my fellow employee.

Friendship is to me a very serious relationship. Like CC said, one that you trust and stand by you when time gets rough. One that you can share everything and remains between the two of you.

One that makes our world more bearable and most of all respect and trust.
A 'friend' of mine and I came to the conclusion that friendship is merely a license to take advantage of each other.
What do you think?
I think it kind of fits.
Expect nothing and lose none, expect everything and lose it all. While this is extreme Non, I do feel that on either side of expectations of none to all is a bit drastic and makes friendship meaningless. The too much expectations would definitely be a disaster but so does the other side. I would say that friendship is a big responsibility and would require effort and energy to maintain that kind of a relationship. Betrayal is an output of lack of trust and sure would end up causing a lot of pain and sorrows.

I gave up one of my oldest relationship of friendship due to mistrust and betrayal. Just like love, it can end, but the longest friendship I have have weathered most bad times and lasted even longer than my marriage of 28 years.
Hi lindsy I have several people that I know from online but those I would consider only acquaintances.

I have a couple good friends in real life who I see on a regular basis and those I would consider real and true friends.

They are the kind of friends I describe in my first post.wave
You're right CC. The designation per this site is friends therefore if is. Just to be able to communicate in one way or another.

I actually want to delete except two that I'm communicating with that can qualify as friends.

I blocked the world and for them to communicate with me, they must be on my friend's list.

But yes, acquaintance is more appropriate. wave
To no one in particular just thinking out loud.

I'd much rather have a couple of real good friends than a bunch of fakers.

I don't have good time and energy to waste on fake people. At times the internet can be quite full of those kinds of people.
LJ,
I agree Pal,
That's why;
"the level of reciprocity one would expect from another."
Lies in between the nothing and the everything.

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all
wink bouquet
You are right my friend. Indeed, reciprocity is a measure of one that can qualify for the term as endearing as friendship.cheers
