Adequacy
I've been thinking.... yes, i think... often.I feel inadequate. A lot of people do a lot of the time. Here's my question:
Why is that?
Actually, it's a series of questions...
Who decides what is adequate? Why do/did we listen to them? Is it just for ourselves or others or both?
It's a rat race. It's always been a rat race, but it is just now sinking in.
We have to:
dress a certain way
or get a tan
or lose weight
or gain weight
or cover our bodies
or protect our minds from thought
or think so hard so often it hurts and drives us to madness
or keep anyone from getting close
or accept everything
or accept nothing
or ask questions
or answer questions
or be happy
or be sad
or be discontent
or content.
That's the thing. So much of it is relative from person to person. How can we be adequate, when adequacy isn't really defined?
And, then, there's the answer. We don't have to be adequate. We don't.
We don't.
We have to push ourselves to our limits when we can... and when we can't, we have to be ok with us and each other and our surroundings and direction. The point is even when we are at a resting place, our hearts have to keep fighting to keep the passion burning... to keep the youthful, naive belief that we can make our individual worlds a place we want to be.
The funny thing about all this? It doesn't have to apply to you. That's the whole point! This is for me, but I just wonder if someone isn't with me on it... well, 6.1 billion people on the planet... someone has got to be on a similar page, if not, the same one.
Man, it's three in the morning. It's three in the morning and I'm talking about how to live life.
Is that adequate?
