Way too Serious

I've slowly come to the conclusion that people are taking personals sites way too seriously.

In the real world we meet and enjoy the company of others based on simple things like shared interests, friends, initial attraction etc etc. You meet someone playing golf or watching races or any number of things that "just happen".

I don't think any of us would meet someone for lunch in the real world with a set goal of a long term relationship but more in the context of just enjoying someone's company.

However, on personal sites there seems to be higher expectations of what this "date" means. We choose based on age, body type, looks, the list goes on and on but in reality we also rule out people that might actually be fun to be with regardless of what their profile states they're actually looking for.
My own personal opinion is the most overlooked part of anyone's profile is what they're interested in. The interests and activities you both might share. In fact, very few even fill out enough of the profile for you to even know anything about this person.

Very true.

But do you dance?
This medium takes the pressure off meeting people in the real world by allowing us the freedom to express ourselves more openly. The reality is the majority of profiles do not spark interest because of the lack of interests, details in regard to personality, etc. In addition, even when you receive a message, it is a very short note that is non stimulating as well. Common interests, shared views, etc., really helps to know whether or not you want to communicate further. I totally agree Bob!
