I need Ideas on what a womens center should do if anybody can help please. (33)

good! Im glad then cos its not very far to look up to me at 5'4 and besides, You should get Jo a mirror so she can look up to herself cos it sounds like she has won her way through some pretty tough times with shining colours - heres to JoJo

I reckon though after sleeping on it that with a bit of luck, the advice and suggestions will all come in in their own time - premises is one thing to think about - oh bloody hell - chickens and eggs come to mind, Phoenix, you were spot on, how am I going to pay for it 
Ive never done a business plan, is anybody clued up on how to do a good one of those? or how to become a registered charity - Im just sounding off really but its getting my head sorted for the questions I will have to ask later and probably the guy im going to see will have lots of the answers too - but i need to ask the right questions - oh im in panicksville

speak to the person who you have you appt with and explain he situation, if he is any good he will put you onto someone who can.

trish123: Thanks Gussi, the guy did have lots of info on the business plan and I have pages of stuff to study and a plan of action - the guy is really enthusiastic to help which is amazing....
Yes, I plan on making quite a lot of help available for the drug and alcohol kind of stuff as it often goes hand in hand with other problems. There are community drug and alcohol teams already and a referral thing would have to be set up but I want to get a closer liason going than that - we will have to see how it goes... and if I can organise the funding and the whole thing does take off then a few counselling people could be on the books - thanks for your help and interest Gussi

Thanks Angel, Im so excited and even though it looks like I wont be making a wage for ages yet, at least it will be building to a great community project - woo hoo I cant believe it still

Well, the thing for the next few days is to contact established womens centers and pick their brains then I can start to work stuff into the plan - money and premises, the guy agreed, will have to be looked at pretty soon so I cant let the grass grow under my feet - i have to start asking people how they did it - Ill get some emails sent out tomorrow and see where that gets us and Im sure a few hours googling will get some results too - oooh, something to get my teeth into at last

No problem trish as Jo knows i do have a personal interest in such matters, and the more people like you are around the better this world might become. At least for some.

Thanks again Gussi - there are millions of people like me Im sure but Im just lucky enough to be in a situation where things have fallen into place at the right time for me to act on thats all......
Things have moved on a pace or two - I phoned the local council this morning and they were more than helpful in helping me sort priorities - they wanted a rough outline of my proposals which I have done, they suggested contacting local councillors and getting them on side as well as forging contacts with the Lancs primary care trust - both of those things Im looking into today as well but the best thing is that they offered to help me by way of giving me a room to host an event to get all interested parties together, including potential funders
so in a few days and with a bit of hard work, I could be in a position to pull all these strands together and get this show on the road - Im still gobsmacked good on yer, pick yerself up, close the mouth and start running while the interest is still warm.
