Winston Churchill - some people are still alive who remember him..........

This is one thing that Winston Churchill said about Capitalism:

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."

Winston Churchill

It has been considered 'politically correct' to knock people from the past for their many weaknesses; Winston Churchill had many but was a great wartime leader if a failure in the peace that followed.

We need to create wealth to share it - sharing the fruits of socialsim is a dry cake to eat........... how should we best create wealth and then share it?

Is the desire to create wealth a false God?

Should we be happy to live in relative poverty compared to the 'high' standards many of us in the 'west' enjoy now provided most of our basic needs are met?

Are environment harming polluting huge state (i.e. Communist) factories spewing out dangerous gases with little respect for the health and safety needs of workers better than producing 'clean' nuclear energy to feel our false nergy needs as consumers in our crazy wasteful lives in the west?

Is it really better to commute in cars hundreds of miles to work and back than live a poor rural life in ignorance?

What do we really want and value in life?

What system gives us the best chance of realising our dreams?

dunno

Capitalism
Theory

Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned.

The recognition of individual rights entails the banishment of physical force from human relationships: basically, rights can be violated only by means of force. In a capitalist society, no man or group may initiate the use of physical force against others. The only function of the government, in such a society, is the task of protecting man’s rights, i.e., the task of protecting him from physical force; the government acts as the agent of man’s right of self-defense, and may use force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use; thus the government is the means of placing the retaliatory use of force under objective control.

Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal “What Is Capitalism?”
Ayn Rand

When I say “capitalism,” I mean a full, pure, uncontrolled, unregulated laissez-faire capitalism—with a separation of state and economics, in the same way and for the same reasons as the separation of state and church.

The Virtue of Selfishness “The Objectivist Ethics,” The Virtue of Selfishness
Ayn Rand

An old Soviet-era joke:

"Under capitalism, man is exploited by his fellow man. Under communism, it's the other way around."

Only the ignorant would claim that it - one person, a nation, a religion, whatever - holds and knows all the answers.

The South American model is going to be the way forward (Brazil, Argentina and Chile, not Venezuela): let the market run, then the government does what the market can't or won't.

The problem isn't capitalism, but democracy itself. The U.S. was initially set up to be a Republic. It's too long to explain, but 2 interesting reads I found if you have the time:

Actually if you are going to put a political twist on this...

What its all about is the Republican Party is basically a bunch of rich ol' white boys wanting to stay rich and the Democratic Party which is a bunch of poor people wanting to become rich ol' white boys and stay that way too.

Nothing wrong with that until greed and taking shortcuts to satisfy that greed takes hold, which it will because as we all know... power/ greed corrupts.
The corporations (running both political partys I might add) are pulling one way, the common good the other way. Common Good doesnt stand a chance.

Perfect communism is impossible because it is something created by man and therefore corrupt, the same goes for a perfect democracy. Socialism is the perfect middle ground but... that 'made by man' thing comes up again. Where capitalism falls into play in all that?

Look under Chapter one, Made by Man
Subchapter One, Greed

When the US becomes the next member of the EU we will merely monetize our own debt over 700 million people rather than 300 million. The general population of the EU will be able to buy "savings" just like we do. Anybody even seen one of those in a long time?
In any event, Europeans will be given the "opportunity" to "invest" in the US. Oh joy, oh rapture!doh
