John Henry C.... was born on 31st January 1919 and died on 14th August 2008 - aged 89.
I think he was an 'ok' guy and just happened to be my father.
He quietly supported several local charities.
I'm having a lunch and auction, in his memory, to raise money for several local charities on Sunday, 24th May from midday until 2 p.m. The tickets are just eight euros - of which seven euros will go to the Cornucopia Hotel (Xaghra, Gozo) for providing the meal and one euro will go to the charities.
Any CS member in Malta or Gozo who'd like to come along for a really fun couple of hours - email me!
We don't need to fight to attain what we need in this life.
The world wants all to find individual peace too - I am sure that if we were all happy here on CS we'd want the same for others.......... the reverse seems to have a negative affect on the individual.
Feeling angry with yourself or another person, or feel that 'the world' has been unjust to you?
Has it really?
Forgive YOURSEL and others and count your blessings.
Only wish for good things for both yourself and others and then relax because there is no need to panic!
You'll find that there is an infinite well of goodwill out there for each and every one of us to tap into!
Apparently it's 'Mother's Day' today (as if it weren't 365 days a bleeding year).
My advice is this: keep a low profile
If you live in Australia go 'walkabout'
However, if you're a real man don't give into being forced to do something insincere like buy her a bunch of flowers (you could buy a pint of beer with the money instead down the pub while she cooks dinner at home).
Just give her some space.
She'll get over it being Mother's Day in 24 hours or so.
Be nice to her.
Show her some respect and a little more peace and quiet - stay down the pub an extra hour ...... she'll appreciate you more when you come back home!
I dislike pigeons and ran one over with my car in the then West Berlin in about 1981 in the district of Spanday.
This pigeon didn't fly off at the last microsecond like most of the evil little b* do who spoil the kill. I dropped into 2nd gear adjusted direction to compensate for sideways airborne heinlich pigeon semi-vertical take off and applied full force to the accelerator............. it just sat there as I ran over the damn thing!
It made a nice ~clunk~ ~clunk~ sound as both axles went over it and then a lonely feather wafted in the gentle summer breeze as I looked back in my rear view mirror at its corpse.
Suddenly I was overcome with grief instead of exhileration, but I tried to comfort myself with the thought that one less pigeon was going to s* on my nice car.
JOHN HENRY
huh?
