I am getting emotionally attached to a man from New Zealand and I live in America. I was just wondering if any of you have any advice or experiences to share about long distance romance?

I have one going on with Doc (DazzleYou). We email every day. Just 'talk' to each other. Above all else, be patient, kind, & understanding. thumbs up

Take it slow and build a solid foundation, and decide if it's worth one of you traveling to meet the other. Take your time. Email, IM, and phone calls (get Skype) will help a lot. The further the distance, I would think the more important it would be to make sure it's real before one moves. Do either of you (or both) have the ability for several trips to visit each other to do this?

Best wishes...just be careful, take your time (there's no need to rush into anything), and build a solid friendship first. That's more important than any chemistry...when you're old, it's most important that the person next to you is your best friend.

No, & because of what just happened, it'll most likely be longer now. We can't even talk on the phone for now. But emailing is fine for me right now. And it helps him with cognition & motor skills. When two people care about each other, they make it work in their own way. thumbs up

"In my experience, the LDR that I was in never
had a chance to fully blossom, due to the distance.
Sad but true,it happens.But,that doesn't mean that
LDR doesn't work out.".

I would like to have a go at making any type of relationship work, long distance or otherwise. So, for any nice guys out there who may be reading this "here I am waiting for you" regardless of geographical location!
