This is regarding personal happiness, star. Everyone has free will as dusty said, but you can either choose to create value, or you can choose to destroy value.
I know you're just kidding around man. I love you anyway.
pretzelman: Really...do you think there will ever be happiness in this world??NBot as long as I have any say in it!!
Dusty45: Many (not all) will agree that here in this existence we have free Will. I think there are also two voices that we have a choice of listening to. The voice of the Ego and and voice of the Spirit.
I don't know..., GB may or may not agree with this. <smile> Here in this world there is the force of the Ego and the force of Spirit.
If I were to describe the voice of Ego it would be a very loud, noisy, mad, insane, disruptive, conflictive, nightmarish, cunning, baffling and powerful one, which is endowed with its own Will. (basically to be the voice of this world of illusion)
Describing the voice of the Spirit would be a quieter, calmer, peaceful, joyful one full of love and with it the Will of good.
I think in every moment we have the choice of which voice we are willing to listen to and whether to choose its Will. We live through our minds; our thoughts. Our world here is made by the decision of which Will (we) choose. We look around and see by the fruits of our thoughts which is the predominating thought in this life here. People; responses; surroundings; are constantly telling us who and what we are. How we treat another is exactly how we are treating ourself. Our minds share and are united.
My thoughts are that the more we choose the Will of the Spirit, another world of perception will unfold to be that of what is known as Heaven and where we will recognize that we are one.
As a first try, one of the important concepts of buddhism is ku ke & chu. ku is the invisible, ke is the visible and chu exhibits both invisible and visible but are neither.
the human spirit and passion is invisible, our body language is visible, and the thinking mind exhibits qualities of both visible and invisible but is neither.
All three aspects are concurrent and mutually present in our daily life and more specially important if we play a leadership role in society or in business. -
Chu is the middle way. Ego is manifest. Spirit is Implicit. Only by living the middle path of chu between ego and spirit can we have any effect or bring any lasting value to the world of the manifest.
Or as the Sufi say, "Be in this world, but not of this world."

I guess I've been calling it 'One foot in and One foot out. haha
Tracy, that was a wonderful article through the link you posted. I wish more people would want to understand and practice the simple techniques written. Thank you for the gift of knowledge.
Galactic_bodhi: Life is like the hokey-pokey. You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you do the hokey-pokey, and you turn your ego around.
Namaste
There's no way I could forget this little jewel ^^^ to jog my memory when it needs a little poke.
I shall endevour to read all the posts when my tiny little brain can maybe handle it - this could take a considerable time, as I have given into the common usage in modern life of only thinking in tiny little 'sound bites' or is it 'sound bits and bytes'!
"... do not go around lamenting to others how hard it is for you to live in this world. To do so is an act utterly unbecoming to a worthy man.
"It is rare to be born a human being. The number of those endowed with human life is as small as the amount of earth one can place on a fingernail. Life as a human being is hard to sustain - as hard as it is for the dew to remain on the grass. But it is better to live a single day with honour than to live to one hundred and twenty and die in disgrace."
