I was reading the comfort food thread, and it got me thinking about this.
I know a lot of people who have a strange food that they adore that nobody else likes.. or maybe nobody in their locale has heard of. Lots of times I think it's a regional type food, born in a certain area, and nobody else has ever heard of it.. but sometimes, it's something we make up our very own self and we're likely the only one's who care for it..
Anybody have something to share?
I have a few.. but one of them is a Carbohydrate lovers dream! LOL
my kids who are adults now still love this.. and so do all of their friends who ever ate it at our house! In retrospect, I should probably be arrested for introducing them to this "heart attack on a plate"
One baked potato (large) baked and mashed with a fork Cover it in butter and sour cream Add a few generous helpings of Velveta Shells and Cheese (cooked and ready to eat) Another little dollup of Sour Cream and pepper to taste!
TaDa!
It sticks to your ribs I guarantee it! You might not have to eat for a few days after downing one of these!!
I'm not sure if this is local or not. I make a meal called (not sure of the spelling) halushki. It's egg noodles & cabbage. I usually throw in kielbasa to add meat to the meal. You cut the cabbage in pretty big wedges & saute it in butter (I usually use a stick of butter) with salt & pepper, while boiling the noodles in one pot & the kielbasa in another. Cut the kielbasa & add it to the cabbage. Drain the noodles & add altogether. It's delicious!!
