depends on who you talk to..but the ' harbour / views ' is considered up there with sydney ! its got it all ! countryside and wilderness on your doorstep lakes, rivers, mountains, glaciers, forests and the sea. urban V is cherry blossom avenues. downtown like anywhere less attractive in parts but incredibly diverse chinatown second biggest in N.Am, outside san fran. so you can take worlds biggest cable car to grouse mountain and ski.....or hop across the victoria island, and take english tea..travel on to eagle and indian country. road north to squamish equals cali coastal road for scenary. all the parks, stanley....further, jasper and banff are reachable for weekends.....stop and shake hands with a black bear if you are unlucky ( i did ! ) south to grunge city and seattle. eateries are exceptional ! 15 can. dollars gets you an all you can eat......101 seafoods banquet on ' ship of the 7 seas ' in burrard inlet ( it was in Dr No. james bond film ) i could go on.......but i wont !

Read Tony Hawk's 'Round Ireland with a Fridge'
It gives a great insight to the people and places
