Growing up I have owned mainly Dodge and Plymouth cars. I had a '74 Challenger R/T 360, '68 Plymouth Roadrunner 383 and a '69 Dodge Charger 440. It was fun tearin' up the streets., but not anymore.
I'm not sure, but doesn't it seem like a conflict of interest for the UAW to own a major car company? Who are they going to negotiate with when it comes to employee salaries? Will they force the union members to take giant pay cuts so the UAW can get larger bonus'?

Reminds you of the "Twentieth Century Motor Company" in "Atlas Shrugged".

There looking to try to sell it to Fiat.
Mind you if you take a look at the build quality and materials of say a Chrysler "Crossfire" you'll see it's a nasty plastic piece of junk with no headroom.
Anyone wanting to buy one of these cars is being ripped off, and other more well equipped, better made models are available.
If you want to live and die by the free market, then this is exactly what happens....crap product, that nobody wants...well it will go broke.
Rumour has it that Porshe is denying being offered for sale to the VW VAG Group.
Too many car manufacturers, and now guess what's going to happen to other parts of the company.
Vauxhall GM and others are all being touted around for sale.
Many companies use common parts,SAAB's are rebadged Chryslers in Europe with different body shells....so if thats not going to be dumped, well their soon for the scrap heap too.
Another premier German Company is a whisker away from the same situation.

So why anyone save Chrysler????????????
The US Government wants to save Chrysler to get it's foot as part owner of a manufacturing company. This is just their next step toward communism. Eventually they will buy up more companies and everyone will be working for the government.

Both Republicans and Democrats are working toward this plan together.

Who in their right mind wants to buy a business where nobody wants the product?

Indyfella: The government (Obama Admin) thinks everyone will want a solar or wind powered car.
What they don't say or point out the obvious is that hydrogen cars require fossil fuels to create the hydrogen or electricity to power them!
How about water driven or alternative propulsion technologies.
When i was working in the motor industry in 1989 i believe Ford bought up another water driven patent that we even heard about in the UK, and promptly buried it.
Have to Say the duel fuel Lexus Hybrids are great to drive, well equipped and have low emissions....and make a Chrysler look like junk!
Compare say an RX300 Hybrid to the Chrysler Equivalent, it's a no brainer...and compared to an Audi...well not a chance in hell me wanting to own one compared to an Audi.

The UAW isn't going to OWN or run Chrysler. FIAT is the one putting in the money. The UAW's part is convincing workers to keep working for less money, and in return the union will have some say so.
Sounds awfully like Communism to me.
I think we're going to be seeing a lot of that sort of thing in the near future.

RayfromUSA: Yep. The 2 party system ended some time ago.
It's just now that it's becoming evident.
So please explain to me why a business like Fiat wants to buy a failed business like Chrysler, and that's communism?
It's a business, after assets...dirt cheap?
Socialism would be propping up a failed business, manufacturing a product nobody wants.
Or did i miss something when capitalism and the rate of money supply can be changed to devalue currencies and collapse an economy for financial gain.
Or is there something i didn't realise? Please explain how you think there's a strange communist plan out there taking over industry?
Money supply runs things, and communists don't have the keys to regulate your American money supply, the Federal Reserve do,,,,you know the private bank that is owned by worldwide financiers, like Mr Rockerfeller, Mr Morgan,Mr Warburg, Mr Rothschild..you know, their descendent's.....and i don't think any one of these capitalists decided to become communist over night!
So please explain to me how you think communists are behind taking over an American failed company.
