never had that situation ..but i guess i would have to ask one obvious question and then just move on

I am the same , I did have one exception with a lady who every communication semed so unhappy & depressed, but I decided to just try and lighten the situation a bit. There are even some on here who I dont chat with regularly but know we can awlays start again any time

I have had both situations and its the same as real life, people come and go. At first I did think, should I ask why they dont respond but there have been people I have stopped responding to so now I dont feel you have to justify anything - unless its inappropriate, then I would block - now I assume we didnt have a connection so.......next please....
Dont look back go forward. Never forget not everyone on here is genuine and maybe they stop communicating when you are getting close to finding out they are fake!!
