Should the international forums just be for friendship and chatting (51)

I know that there are those who have found significant others here on the International Forums but are those numbers higher than the ones on the more 'local' forums? Travel seems to be expensive for a lot of people, many simply do not want to move, so many are opting for local in terms of looking for a partner rather than international. Does the international forums just serve the main purpose now of just getting to know people from different places, a kind of International social watering hole than somewhere to meet a potential mate. Should we just forget the international forums for finding a mate and just meet here to chat and socialize and keep our dating sights for our own neck of the woods. Just wondering. What do you guys think?

I guess you ovelooked your opening comment that some have found their mate here. Some have founds dates. Some have found friends. So I think the Forums Threads are okay.

Although some may not find love on the other side of the world there are some that may.

I'm asking in a nutshell based on what I've read that many do not want to travel for love. So that would mean that though they may come here for chat, friendship, the bottom line is they really are looking for someone(for a relationship) in their own back yard. So the only thing those people would be here for is to socialize. Not saying that love CAN'T spark but how many on the international as opposed to the local forums has led to a relationship. Hope I a better job of explaining what I'm asking.

As I said, why limit ourselves? If I met someone from another country and IF we found that we were interested in each other..I'd be willing to travel or have him visit me.
...and if it didn't work out, then we still would have had a (hopefully) good experience of visiting each other's countries.

Hi Taino,You know, here on St.Thomas it's kind of hard to find many contacts on here that are from around these parts, so it's difficult for me, but I think that if I were to find that right person, I would say the skies the limit. I would do whatever it would take to be with that person, regardless of location.

I guess many factors at play here. Everyone wants to fall in love, i'm sure, economically there's a boundary to falling in love is what i'm meaning. The boundary is what can be afforded. Sorry but thats reality, an thats my point, it sucks that people who fall in love can't afford it. Hope that clarifies. :)
