Ideally, what system of government (and don't just say "capitalism" or "communism", but describe your own particular vision and reasons for believing that this system is best) do you think would work best in our country?

I don't know about Ireland enough to say.

Then again, I'll say this:
No system of government works best, not even better and certainly not goodlaugh

I've often mused on the thought of having been born in another time, another century and even another age, like sixty or a hundred thousand years ago. At least I wouldn't have to put up with governments who treat us like mushrooms or beggars.

I might've like to live under the Roman Empire rule. I'd be one of two things, a farmer or a legionary.
As a farmer, I'd pay my taxes and dues without complaining because I would have been taught from infancy that the only freedom there was is to serve the empire or be crucified for treason.
As a legionary, I'd fight and pay my dues without complaining because I would have been taught from infancy that the only freedom there was is to...(same as above).
Anyways, at least I wouldn't be deceived into thinking that "if you work hard and are honest you can rise from the low ranks of society..."laugh
And at least, the good thing about being in Rome's legion was that you could rise in the ranks and become Centurion then own an estate at retirement ( if I lived )laugh

Constitutional democratic government by the people exercised through elected representatives. Judicial laws dealing with the rights of private citizens designed to safeguard those rights. The right to act, believe, express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing sanction by law. The penalty of death for the commission of murder. An economic market in which supply and demand are regulated with only minor restrictions. The legal right to work under just and favorable pay and conditions and legal protection against unemployment. Financial or medical aid provided by the government to people in need.
conversing Did a hack job from various online sources. But here's a start.

How d'you figure?
The us economy is worth trillions of dollars, distributed evenly would give each of us hundreds of thousands of dollars, how can one be poor after receiving that much?
One thing is for certain, they'd be HEALTHIER 'cause they'd be able to eat BETTER.
cheers

I should probably phrased that a little better, but most individuals and countries do not have a good handle on their finances. Given a few years, those that know how to handle their new found money will become richer and those who do not know how will find themselves without money......

The best kind of Government is one that is run by the people of the Nation that each person votes on each thing and no one entity or group has any higher vote than another, all are equal in their vote. Its called FREEDOM!
That one simple word that so many have died for and yet is still to be achieved in ths world.
