Okay...I'm going to give this a try. It has been a while since I studied Melchizedek.
Melchizedek was the first priest of "the Most High God." He was also considered a type of Christ.
If I remember correctly, you could not trace his ancestors, which is important because you could only be a priest back then if you came out of the Levite family.
I could be wrong about this. It's been a while since I studied him.

There were no Levites at the time of Melchizedek. Hint: What religion, what God was he a Priest of?
likeshoes5: U are to lazy... take the bible is free.. and read this.. lol..
Only a brief vague reference to Melchizedec in the O.T. As far as I know the only mention of him in history. But much can be inferred when you consider the circumstances of that reference and who else was involved.
wonderworker: OK What religion did Melchizedek serve as Priest? Get a time frame.
.
Okay...I'm not sure what you mean by what kind of religion. I'm assuming that it was the version of Christianity at that time.
Melchizedek first came into the picture in Genesis 14:18-20. This was right after Abraham defeated Chedorlaomer and his three allies. Melchizedek presented bread and wine to Abraham and his men.He blessed Abraham in the name of El Elyon which means "God Most High."
In return, Abraham presented Melchizedek with a one-tenth tithe of all that he had gathered.
When I said Levite a minute ago, I meant to say Aaronic priesthood.
