carla90: why shame on her?
cause she is protecting an innocent dog!

No, because she has basically stolen this dog. We don't know the full story, but the way I see it is she agreed to fund getting a dog for some people. I assume it wasn't just any old dog, it was one they had chosen and she agreed to help them out. She must have made a good judgment of their character to offer her help.

Now she has fallen in love with this dog and wants it for herself. She is now doing everything to justify it not only to herself but to us, because she knows deep down it is wrong but is testing us to see if she will get general aceptance. She even quotes that God has guided her to this decision ...... doh doh

OneKitty: What do you mean? Because I called them "poor." Please elaborate on your comment. Thanks. I will explain if needed.

Poor has nothing to do with it, that's not my concern and not yours. You made a promise and you have broken it, that is what stinks.

You are just playing the poverty card to make it look as though there is a danger of this dog being under nourished by its new owners. Followed by the sympathy and empathy cards.

Okay, I have read both of your posts and I am very, very glad you asked the question. And to be honest with you, that was the "moral delemma."

Let me see if I can explain it a little better so that you understand that I am not pulling the "God card."

I will try and keep it brief, but factual.

I have this newspaper guy.

I thought he was a college kid.

The lost their second dog.

They wanted another companion dog.

I offered to help find one (I am involved with resues)

They said okay.

I called them on a couple.

The went to the pound. The said they found a chihuahua there but did not want him.

They said they had bad luck with pound dogs before and did not want to spend more money there.

They said "do I know of anyone who wants one" knowing I work with rescues.

I did not at the time.

I was on my way to see the dog at the pound and the guy expresed interest so we went together.

I made application for the dog.

I could not take him home that day. Pound said I had to bring my girls (the Shih Tzu's). We did the following day.

On the ride to the pound I found out the paper guy was 31 years old (a man) and is about on his way to jail for assalt. It is a planned trip.

He and his wife just had a new baby.

They are letting their car get reposessed because they can't afford the payments.

Should I go on? There is more....

I agree. It's my little dog now. I paid for him, I paid for his vet bills, I did the adoption. He is mine. Thanks for your support.

Ok, so he is going to jail then.

From your opening post ......

Well don't know what to do.
Do I follow the promise to the people....
or to the dog?.....

This was your big dilema, which promise to keep, and what promise did you make with the dog ? I still can't see beyond the fact that you have gone back on your word to these people, regardless of their character, you only mention the mans, there are others, his wife and child.

You said they seemed to love the dog, and they are not giving up easy on their dog by the sounds of it or it wouldn't be a dilema !

Oh gosh! You do have a point there, but when I did forst post this thread, I did not have the full information. I had only an inkeling of the information.

NOW several days have passed and I have more facts. Based on the facts that I have NOW I want to keep the dog.

THEN, it was a moral delemma. I was waffeling at the time. I wanted to follow my word, but I was uncomfortable with it because things/information were/was just blosseming

NOW I am very uncomfortable with my origional word. They have not kept their word either. So if we have to go off a verbal agreement, all is lost.

In fact I am steadfast against it. The origional information has changed.

I hope that makes sense. What would you do?
