I'll tell you what prompted this question. I've worked for the same company for 9 years and work outside of my home town.
In all the time, I've worked there I have never spoken about my financial situation and drive a basic cheap car to work.
Today someone from my home town just happened to visit my office. I did not know this person, but she had seen me about and made a big deal out of saying I've seen you driving around(then she mentioned my other car)
This made a few people in the ofice ask some questions, which I just played down, but now I've already been asked out for a drink at the weekendby someone who I would have been interested in, if I did not get the feeling it was just because I own something else, as well as my Ford Focus.

Mmmm, Ford Focus? I love it! Lucky you for driving such a lovely car. Do you live alone?
jessejess47: Good luck with the immigration......you will need it
It's just a thought at the moment!! Planning a trip to Ohio and will catch a domestic fight to Seattle to see my brother. He moved there about 5 years ago and loves it. Been to the states a few times, but never with a view of moving there, so only done the tourist thing.
My next trip will be with a view to see if I could or want to relocate
