Okay, I admit I am old fashioned. I am a traditionalist in many ways. And, it appears to me that FOX News, and TV programmers like them are putting "progress" above the needs of people like me.
Just today, FOX News went to a wide screen format. Pardon me, but that wide black strip at the top and bottum of the screen looks stupid. And I will not watch it. So, I guess it's CNN for me.
I will no longer be watching FOX News. I watch very little of anything that has a wide screen format. Even one of my favorite shows of all time, "Monk." Since it has gone to the wide screen format, I haven't watched it.
The wide screen format makes my 20" screen look like a 12" screen, with 4 inches of black at the top and the bottum. I think it looks stupid.
Tell me, how is the attitude of FOX News different than those that are pushing healthcare down our throats? I'm old fashioned. I'm a traditionalist. They will probably defend this by calling it progress. But, doesn't that make them progressives? I guess those of us who are old fashioned traditionalists are not needed. As far as FOX News is concerned, we could all die, and they don't care. Tell me, why is that attitude any different than the death panel attitude of the liberal healthcare agenda?
Us old fashioned TV viewers are slowly being pushed away from TV. And so what - we are dying. And when we're all gone, all that will be left will be the progressive, younger TV viewer.
Good-bye FOX News. If progress is more important to you as it was in Germany just before the holocaust, then you really don't need old fogies like me.
AsleepInNJ: try changing your tv settings to stretch or zoom.
My TV can't do that. My TV is as old fashioned as I am. But, thanks for the suggestion. TV networks, and stations are going with the wide screen format so that people will buy new TVs.
It is true, FOX News is not fair and balanced, nor do they report and let you decide. But, then, if fair and balanced means supporting Obama, then I am not fair and balanced either. Barack Obama is probably the worst President we ever had. I guess why USA haters love him. Obama is doing his best to destroy the economic fabric of our country. Romania get's a lot of foreign aid from the United States. You should consider that. If our economy goes down the toilet, so will the economy of the rest of the world. We ahve supported so many nations in the past, and do still today. We Americans buy goods from all over the world. Where would the global economy be without the United States? If we would stop buying the world's goods, factories all over the world would close down. People all over the world would lose jobs. Who would take care of them then?
This is the greatest country in the world. We have been the most charitable to other nations. When there are disasters in other countries, we are always one of the first to respond with aid.
Don't you dare use my thread about wide scree TV to come in here and trash my country.
What Barack Obama is doing is hurting our economy. After he's through with us, we won't be able to do all those things we do for other countries and nations. Is that what you want?
But, when we are going through problems, all you USA haters do is put us down. Maybe we should stop giving and giving and giving some more to you other countries. What will you do if we did?
Son of David...we have a old set here....25 years old at least. Saw the new FOXX last night on it. General format of the shows ware the same, the same commentators, the same topic areas..........no problem.
So? If because the new wide screen format is the sole reason to flick the channel....be my guest. Enjoy CNN with the few that watch it.

You like it, that's fine. I don't. If you can ignore the black strip at the top and bottum, that's fine. It's not just FOX News. I won't watch anything like that. And, when CNN goes to the wide screen format, I won't watch it either.

The rest of the world would get along fine without America's "economy" and cannibalism- I mean, Capitaslim- I mean...OH, HELL THAT ANYWAYS...

This is not a perfect country. I have a couple bones to pick with it too. But, the people of this country are the most charitable. Americans support the Red Cross and Red Crescent, and those organizations are there at every disaster that happens in the world. They couldn't do that without the financial support of the American people.
I have my problems with greedy capitalists. But. that is not the majority of American people. Then you have the "Christian Children's Fund." There are many charities based in the United States. We are the most giving nation in the world.
well let see his war in iraq. his tax breaks to the rich. i would rather watch paint dry then watch fox news. but here in Ukraine we cant watch fox. that just proves there is a little good in everybody.

There is truth in what you say. Yet, some would feel that you are being vain by saying "most..." Maybe one of the most, yes.
It's also vain for you to say that "the world cannot do without the U.S or it's economy...
The world COULD do without all that vanity, yes
I think that the world would appreciate a country that works WITH the rest of them and not OVER the rest of them. Yes, the U.S is perhaps the only superpower but as such, it needs to set an example and the past 20 years haven't been a sterling one... So, less vanity and more co-operation would put the U.S in a position where the world could not do without.
Rather than moan about Fox changing their TV format, why not get rid of the TV altogether and really be a traditionalist. At one point, TV was a progressive medium, you know. So was the telephone. I hope you get my drift here.
