mine at this time are too young still think their dad is THE BEST especially when im giving out LOL but it will come in time...i never bad mouth him or anything...in fact i get on fairly well with him as long as i dont think about the fact that im raising the kids financially on my own...but he does come and see the kids usually about twice a week

Yeah my kids have no interest in their dad now. He has rejected them so many times that they just don't bother with him any more.
His loss..not theirs. As you say they are old enough to understand.. and to make their own decisions.

My ex has to "think about" helping out with kids college expenses every year (after I ask him 3 or 4 times). And he usually thinks it's too much to ask. I have to pay for accommodation for my kids in Dublin even though my ex lives in Dublin...he refuses to let the kids stay with him. He is nearly 50 years old and at this stage the kids want very little to do with him... despite the fact that I have done everything I could to encourage them to have a good relationship with him.
