causalset: I moved to India to do a post doc. However, I am only interested in dating girls of European descend. When I searched for such girls in India their number is very limitted, none of them live in Bangalore, and most have not loged on for a while.
So this brings me to ask: is it at all realistic to search for girls at other countries and ask for long distance relationship, until I am done with a post doc? For instance, is it possible to make a post at a particular forum and specifically ask for the girls that are willing to do long distance to respond?

If you are willing and able (financially and time-wise) to travel to her country, so the two of you could spend some time together once in a while, then yes - it might work.
Otherwise, you'll just have to concentrate on your studies if you are not attracted by local girls.
Long distance relationship is still a relationship, which implies meeting in person and falling in love.

Yep...Guys are crazy enough to travel across the world for a woman ( after all, is she not worth it? ) but the woman cannot be bothered by that, it needs to be served on a platter and preferably NOW

I'm not saying that at all, a girl of 17yrs was murdered this week in UK, she met a guy she had been talking to on FB.Its a risk we take, but a woamen travelling abroad to meet a stranger, is not the cleverest thing to do is it???

1) A girl would not travel to see a guy but a guy can travel to see a girl, so they are not treated equally
2) There were real cases where girls were hurt or even killed; guys were not
So, putting 1 and 2 together, what it boils down to is that all guys have to suffer due to the behavior of the few crazy ones. Now, of course, the "crazy" ones mask themselves and they appear like quite reasonable ppl until it is too late, which is why it is only logical to treat ALL guys with caution from girls point of view. But still this doesn't change the fact that, as a guy, I have to be punished for the behavior of other guys.

Look at it this way, if you had a daughter would you want here to travel to another country, where she may not know the language, have any friends or family, to meet a man she has only talked to on the internet and really knows nothing about???
