serene56: I had some beautiful toys when I was a child ... an elaborate dolls house with exquisite miniature furniture, a wind-up music box that I adored, beautiful dolls that really were'nt meant to be played with .. but I was allowed to
I wasn't a spoiled child, but a very lucky, loved one
As I grew older, my toys were replaced by boys and then men .. and I've been lucky and loved by them as well ..

And now I'm a big girl I have a VERY special toy
My best friend and constant companion
Ben, my maltese terrier

OOOOohhhh too good Serent!! My day made me a few sets too, AFTER I graduated from the milo cans............... hahahahahahaha

We were pretty poor and I remember Dad building me an awesome doll's house and making furniture out of used match boxes which he covered in wall paper and attached matches as handles. What patience and love! Damn I wish I'd appreciated all Mum and Dad's love and care at the time

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do sigh

Earlier this year it cost me about $1000 when my dog got out of the yard. Next door's dog had dug a lovely big hole under the shared fence, mine went visiting and is little enough to get out of their property.

I didn't pay the fines and they just kept increasing them. mumbling moping very mad farking councils

ouzoncoke: Yeah good point that last one you raised.
I'm getting to the point where I'm seriously considering sub-renting the spare room. I've a 3 br place and only two of us living there, not much point moving to a smaller one tho as I've looked around and I'd be paying the same amount for a dump. It's bloody frustrating. I feel like I'm working twice as hard to get half the distance. Like you, the downturn didnt' affect me at first but it sure is now.

You're right about the moving to a smaller place thing .. Im in the same boat - what I'd get for less money would be a dog box and would still only save me about 20 bucks a week if that. Its scary when you get to the point where you cant trim any more expenses - it's the rent/mortgage, utilities, fuel etc that kill you and they're obviously unavoidable. Other than that I live on the smell of an oily rag already uh oh
