Hey ladies, be honest here. Has, what once was a desire for security in a man, changed to wanting more of a playmate? Basically, once the basics of heirarchy of needs have been met, ie; security, honesty, maturity, adoration and love. Do you find yourself bored as you mature in life and find yourself needing excitement and youthfulness? I'm wondering what the risks are that women reaching mid 40s will hit a mid life crisis to become "cougars".
Naaaah!I had a "playmate" when I was younger but now that I'm of a mature age,I want it all; I'm through with just the physical desires , I'm hoping to find someone who's grounded and someone who also knows what he wants and what he's capable of,commitment.
Hey,I like that "cougar" bit;strange,I get hit on more now by younger guys than when I too was so called, younger.I'm more attracted to the maturer (is that a word?) guy. Guess I ain't no cougar.

Going by your outlined criterion,
none... no risks...
Basics such as security, honesty, maturity, adoration and love are not mutually exclusive with being a playmate.
Everyone needs excitement in their lives, no questions about it. But "youthfulness"{as you call it} is not automatically equates to excitement. I've known much younger men who were so jaw-breaking boring, I also have known men my age and older who are very exciting to be with,
hence
it's more down to the individual, than just the age.
642jess: Errrr.....no, for me personally, a companion, an equal, is sufficient.
As to why some women prefer the company of men younger than them..'cougars'...I feel it's simply they have met someone they enjoy, feel compatible with, and age is not an issue.
Why have men, when hitting their mid life crisis, always dated women young enough to be their daughters?
it goes both ways, perhaps if you answer my question, you may have found one of the millions of reasons why women do the same.

Everything changes with time and maturity or lack ofit, and relationships are just a refelction of that. It is no different to changing what we want from ourselves over time.
