what a pile of cod. the taoiseach said himself that no matter what strikes went on that it wouldnt change a thing. the public sector are starting to piss a lot of people off including myself, they dont realise that everyone has to take a hit in these times.. i might take a small exception to the coppers , nurses, doctors and firemen, who do dangerous jobs and life saving jobs, but the rest of yes can go to bloody hell, greedy shower of ungrateful people!!! even if the public sector was cut 40%, it would still be a higher wage than most european countries, and then i have idiots coming on here telling me that i dont have a job because im too lazy!!! PUBLIC SECTOR, GO TO HELL!!! very mad

Rob i apologise for calling you lazy as i was furious at that thread.Im sure its not easy being out of work. You made it quite clear what you think of public servents and thats your opinion and your entitled to it the same way im entitled to my opinion. But do you not think its a bit stupid and thoughtless posting on a popular website what you think of civil servents.Anyway apologies again but ive no more to say on it.

I don't know what all this strike is going to get yee. for the government its great they save 100s of thousands in public sector pay but no doubt all those who were striking today will be on over time tomorrow to make up for the days losses.

The fact is that we are spending 57mill a day and only taking in 32mill something has to give. the public sector pay is the only place that the government can hit so guys that yee. all those over paid public sector guys with your fine pensionable jobs.

even the banking sector have taken a pay cut Colm Doherty the new AIB Chief took a massive 130,000 in a pay cut he has to survive on 46,000 a week so guys everyone is struggling.

That figure needs to be revised down, that originally included a lot of organisations that didn't strike due to the floods.
