Well the bottom line is people can lie all they want but if you meet someone in person...where the hell do you hide that extra five stone (big handbags might be fashionable but there are limits to what you can stash in there !) and how much botox can a 44 year old face take if you want to pretend to be 33 God knows I have tried both tactics

Trying to pretend that you are 10 years younger than you actually are is a big mistake and quite a nasty lie to be honest. Nobody can get away with it and if you develop a relationship with someone, it is going to cause a rift when you have to tell the truth, even if that only happens when you are forced to retire seemingly "10 years early". Its the same with any other lie you might tend to tell. Think of it before you tell one....what if the person you are lying to becomes very important to you? It makes life so much easier if you tell the truth in the first place.
One thing I've noticed people lie about is height, as much as weight..
If you put on your profile that you're 5'7", and turn up to a get together, people will notice that you're not, when you're actually 5'3"
When people lie about things that are so easy to find out, makes me wonder what other things they've been lying about...

My mam and her partner met 18 years ago, at a singles hooley in Dublin! She claimed to have 3 children instead of 5 and he claimed to be 5 years younger...... Yet they are still together and going strong!
There are wee lies to improve your profile and BIGGIES that cannot be taken back. When you read a profile, you mentally form an impression of that person in your mind, if you meet and that impression is instantly blown, its very hard to regain the banter you once had.....

everything on my profile is true.
lies r bad cos they can cause trust issues in a relationship or possible relationship, i don't see why ppl have to lie.
i suppose a little white lie can be ignored if it was said under right circumstances i.e. to help maintain contact with a person if the person really wants to remain in contact with the person he/she lied to.
i've no probs with profiles having pics or not having pics.
