somechick: When I do something for someone just because I want to I would never think of expecting them to then pay me for what I did for them.

What that particular co-worker did was totally wrong. It wouldn't matter if they were a co-worker of mine.

sweetowen: This morning my co-worker came into the office carrying breakfast for everyone from McDonald's. Apparently, she'd called & asked what they wanted, but hadn't called or texted me. However, she did bring me food & a drink. Now she wants me to pay her for it! First off, I really wasn't hungry & had my own drink. While I thought this was a nice gesture, she now expects me to pay her for it!! I mean, I can see if I'd ASKED her to bring me something, but I didn't even know she was doing it & never asked for it! Do you think I should have to pay her for it? If not, how should I approach her about it? After all, we DO have to work together. And she gets quite defensive when confronted. Please help!
I'd just pay her and avoid any potential confrontation. McDonald's is cheap. Do the kill-her-with-kindness thing. Wait 2 days or so, then go to the break room fridge, find the lunch with her name on it, and eat it. One more little thing- work late one night, cut or file a flat spot in one of the wheels of her desk chair. I have more ideas ready if needed. grin
