Not one philosophy but an aspect of many.
Often associated with Kant

Basically the tenet that knowledge can be derived rationally without benefit of experience.

I am not an expert in this area of Epistomology but I'll bet you a good horse that there are some among us.

Any way I'm bored with beaver shaving and Evangelism.
So let's see what's in the woodwork.

I am not taking a position on this one due to personal ignorance.
Choose up sides and play nicely.

No, but you can con people into thinking you've gained the knowledge with double talk and nonsense jargon to get a large Federal grant.

Just because a language can't be understood doesn't make it incomprehensible, just incomprehensible to you. giggle

There is a quote from the Lotus Sutra that encompasses my feeling on this:

Yui butsu, Yo butsu (The language of Buddhas can only be understood by Buddhas)

What does this mean then?

Is all communication verbal or textual? Or can we communicate with a look, or a glance, or a gesture? To put it more accurately, is all communication "Contextual"?

So, then, what is knowledge? And how is it distinguished from wisdom?

And what is it we are communing with when we "transcend" and gain this "knowledge" that "can be derived rationally without benefit of experience."?

And is transcendental knowledge truly rational if it is gained by means that, on the surface, don't appear to be rational?

I give no stance on this issue. I'm thinking, however, that these questions might be pertinent to any understanding of "transcendental" Philosophy.

Sciencie now seems to be confirming that there is an intelligent link between our brains and our hearts. Our hearts do not just seem to be some dumb muscular pump controlled entirely by the brain. A constant feedback of communication between the two via nerve impulses, hormones, neurotransmitters and biophysically and now it is also thought via electromagnetic fields.( it has been found that the heart has an independent nervous system )

If so, can our electromagnetic fields interact with those of others close to us. Is this how we feel emotions ? Can different emotions or someones character change or be inherited through heart transplants and also an add intelligence received ? .....
dunno

Who needs fiction, this science stuff beats it hands down ....applause peace

well see that is why Christians alway talk about needing Jesus in your heart, atheists here dont even want to go there, believe me they dont want to talk about a warm feeling you will get in your heart during meditation. Yes, they are DEUSCHEBAGS!!!!laugh

The only thing being transcended by this discussion is ones ability to live life and be happy...distraction has that effect...this sort of topic is the type of topic people like to discuss when their lives are so messed up that their only desire is to escape into some form of mental gymnastics in order to avoid tackling the issues that would actually set them free...

Mind candy...empty calories for your brain...

Unfortunately...seems to be the craving of the day...and still I wait...
