Politicall still unstable and yet a very strongly Catholic country.......... many Filipinos are good people and deserve a future to look forward to.
I was in Asia when the Aquino government was trying to reign in the corruption that had become so prevalent under the US appointed dictator Marcos.
I personally knew some Americans who were very involved with organizing an attempted military coup against Aquino. Thankfully, the coup failed and the Americans had to leave the Phillipines quickly.
That's just to say that many of the Phillipine's problems have to do with outside influence.
When one nation is kept poor and oppressed, it keeps some other nations rich.
krisha: well,i guess u need to read once more my post, japan have a good standard of politics, quiet and peaceful election..and i am not talking about japan.
I think it is the way you have worded your post it might sound confusing to some. But you do say you are from Japan and it is not wholly clear you are necessarily talking about the philipines, although you do mention this country.

sawadee ka krisha,it is not unusual what is happening there,it could be worse, for example look at Myanmar!but all the less westernised asian countrys are basically same same...corruption,bribes,handouts as u would know...i think Gloria Acquino is very smart politician but does not mean she better than previous leaders u had..power & money does this to all leaders...it changes them for the worse!

hi kanokwan,i do agree to u,and all what u said is absolutely right but this is a nightmare for those have family members killed in that massacre, they are going to registered the candidacy for being mayor but he couldnt go for his self registration coz they warn him that they will kill him, anyway they are family,cousin..this is a rival of family clan..100 police plus the mayor killed the wife ,sister, auntie and some family including the 37 journalist..during Marcos regime ,things are diferrent..now all become worst..that is because of politics, power and position.

I have friends working in Baghdad and I was informed of this as they are from the Philipines. In this day and age it makes me wonder why this kind of atrocity is allowed to happen.
