It's not stealing if it's there on offer for ppl to avail of... handling stolen goods, maybe, but not stealing.

Instead of wasting money to stop the X Factor song getting to No 1 just put the amount of money you would have spent on the single to charity...and stop being so silly!!

The stealing is in obtaining the music without permission of the artist as opposed to the CD per say; in the same way when you buy a book, DVD or CD you obtain permission to watch, listen or read it. Passing it on or copying them (without permission) is breach of the copyright. File shares are illegal but then again so is getting drunk and driving over the speed limit
Truth be known, I don't really care about you getting a few songs on the sly but in the long term the quality of downloaded music, software and videos can be poor at times and it's a great way to get yourself viruses. Some of the ISP's here are having pressure put on them over illegal downloads in the last few years; IRMO have obtained co-operation with Eircom regards same this summer.
