Toms Awesome Bread Pudding ( Archived) (1)

Many people say they don't like bread pudding because the only bread pudding they ever had was from a diner or from somebody who couldn't make good bread pudding. I've always suspected that diners use the bread that people didn't eat that wound up back in the kitchen full of cigarette ashes. Forget all that! Here's a recipe you will love and it's very quick & easy. It only takes about 20 minutes prep time and an hour to bake.

Ingredients:

5 eggs
6 cups of milk
3/4 tsp salt
1.5 cups brown sugar (packed)
1 tbls vanilla
1 cup of raisins (I prefer white raisins)
cinnamon

You'll need a 9X12 baking pan, preferably one with a lid. They sell them at Dollar General for 3 bucks. The lid will keep the bread pudding from drying out or you can use plastic wrap.

Beat the eggs in a large bowl.
dump in the brown sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt. Mix well with a wisk to make sure all the brown sugar is disolved. Cut up enough bread into cubes roughly an inch in size to fill the baking pan. You don't have to use stale bread like a lot of recipes say that's BS, any bread will do. Last time I used a pkg of hotdog rolls and before that I used 9 hamburger rolls with sesami seeds. Fill the pan to level with the cut up bread and sprinkle the raisins about evenly. Pour the liquid over the bread and gently press the bread down so it is all completely soaked with the liquid. Sprinkle cinnamon evenly over the top and pop it in the oven at 350 for EXACTLY 1 hour and it's done. Oh, and don't preheat the oven, that is also BS.

So if you're looking for something to make for the holidays which will get rave reviews this will do the trick.

I would very much appreciate it if anybody makes this to let me know how you liked it.
