I would say that I have heard alot of debate between Christians and atheists, and some of the atheists would say Christians are afraid or live in fear, because of the words fear the lord,to me fear the lord means obey the law. Jesus said fear not. So the point of being Christian is having no fear because you are united with God through Jesus Christ, so you are living life fearlesly, this is how you do miracles, this is how you move mountains, so you care about other people and help them, you do on to others as you would have done onto you. If you are in fear you do not have Jesus in your heart, and you might want to ask him to go there right now. Peace to all.
EliteOne: never mind about moving mountains buy just try to get from A to B without checking out the girlies on the side walk.
Ok that is no problem just dont bring up the fact that I DID IT WITH A WOMAN 8 TIMES IN ONE NIGHT, AND IT WAS ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!!!
Also I dont think you are one of those who says, Christians are wimps, maybe you do, but if you were a scientist wouldnt you just say it is a thought process anyway?

come-on you ran the greatest race of your life and no medal to hang around your neck!...
I don’t see Christianity as a weakness but a mental condition which stops you from seeing the height of one self.
The laws of the universe apply to all, regardless of any faith or not, period. We're born, we live, we die, simple.
It's what you do in the between time that really matters.
Some choose to live in fear, some don't, regardless of where that fear comes from. I choose not to, I live for truth, and despite its ugliness at times, it's a beautiful thing.

Happy holidays!
Ok Kid, if you had a beautiful neighbor woman who was married and wanted to go to bed with you, you should fear the lord in that case, or you could say fear the law, because you know there could be a heavy price to pay if you just say I have no fear and go to bed with her.
As a child you fear getting in trouble with your parents for the consequences, then as you get older you listen to your parents out of respect and love.
As a christian i do not live in fear, i live in live. Jesus said something similar to......if you wont follow the lord gods rules because of love then do it for fear of his punishments." jesus never wanted people to live in fear, he wanted us to live in love. Even people who arent christians like ghandi say they like the teachings of jesus.

My reasoning to say no to a situation like that, has absolutely nothing to do with fear, or law, nor any deity.
It's a breach of trust, for all involved, and that's one of the worst things you can do to another person, or to yourself.

itsallme112: Why?
Ok for me personally & I totally understand & support others who are against it.
In the church I attend we have had several extremely good female preachers and I feel that if they are capable of being good at their job give them a chance
But I do understand how this can cause angst in some denominations
Well, the altar is representation of Heaven on Earth. And according to the Orthodox Church, the womb of a woman is also like a Heaven on Earth, because she can bare the gift of life.
A woman can only enter the altar, after she has finished with her menstrual cycles completely...and they must be a higher level nun.
There Church allows female Deacons, which is the step to priesthood...but there hasn't been an ordained female deacon for centuries. So, I suppose if a woman who completed their menstrual cycle, and then became ordained as a deacon...could possible become a priest. But, I don't think the woman would live long enough to complete this process.
This is a very, very, very, very simplified answer. So, I apologize for it.
