serene56: There's a difference between someone's "boyfriend" and someone's "husband"

To me there isn't, if you're with someone, you're with them.

Marriage means little to me as far as the paperwork, the "before god and witnesses" thing goes. It's the actual commitment between two people, for as however long it should last, that means everything.

Oi scold as I said, I have a holistic approach to life and I dont see how adopting the pure and moral principles from other religions (for want of a better word) can be seen as

"nothing, zip, nada"

I will try , they believe every living thing is important, that its part of lifes balance. Where we may kill a fly or spider, etc they wouldnt.

This is a very very basic version my friend but I feel that we have drifted from enjoying trees, animals, insects etc & sadly maybe just take it for granted that they are there so what.

Hope that sort of makes sense

Yes, I agree with you kid .. but the boyfriend/girlfriend thing, to me, has a kind of loose connotation as far as the point that bay is

attempting

to make.

If he had said "partner" I would have looked at it a little differently.

your ways are very mysterious, you can meditate using Christianity, you can connect with God through Jesus in your heart, I am just wondering what Buhdism has and you said peace, love, beans, so that is nothing that Christians dont have, except the beanslaugh

bay163: I would say that I have heard alot of debate between Christians and atheists, and some of the atheists would say Christians are afraid or live in fear, because of the words fear the lord,to me fear the lord means obey the law. Jesus said fear not. So the point of being Christian is having no fear because you are united with God through Jesus Christ, so you are living life fearlesly, this is how you do miracles, this is how you move mountains, so you care about other people and help them, you do on to others as you would have done onto you. If you are in fear you do not have Jesus in your heart, and you might want to ask him to go there right now. Peace to all.

and this is how you miraculously do it eight times in just one decade? confused

There is only one problem with hugging trees.

What if the tree doesn't like you?

It can't exactly uproot itself and walk off, can it?

It has to endure you hugging it...... especially if its having an 'off day' and just wants to be left alone.

Poor trees! moping

My biggest problem is with people who choose to follow laws/rules/doctrine...that is convenient for them. And then make excuses why they don't have to follow the others. I am not saying that I am without sin or that I follow all of my Church's doctrine perfectly. However, I will not make excuses or justifications for why I am not following them. I admit the wrong that I do, and I strive to do better, or I accept that I am not following that rule/doctrine and not willing to do so yet...but I don't look for excuses to justify it.

I also don't like to impose on others for that reason. I am not without sin, so I have plenty to improve in myself, so I have no business trying to "fix" others.

I am speaking in general here, not directing this towards anyone particular.

Anyway, I know it is wrong to judge. And sometimes I am guilty of this. So, forgive me. handshake

bay163: Well I respect your opinion, but to me a woman with a boyfriend is fare game, a marriage is a big deal.

Put it this way if a girlfriend dumps you for someone else that is nothing compared to a wife dumping you for another man.

Where is the respect that a person has made to another? When someone is dating they have made the decision to spend time and energy getting to know a particular person for a longer term commitment. Should that not be respected?

Not long enough - some trees live for thousands of years and have 'seen' more things than you and I combined!

Ask a tree about climate change for example - they have all the answers! grin
