I'm a lead guitarist (retired). I was doing a charity gig on NYE and they were making announcements between sets, so I slipped away. Bass & Drums eh? Pity you're on the other side of the country, I'd like a jam.handshake

venere08: Now that's a fair bit of land there, Martia!

How is it being used?

Used to breed and train T.bred Racehorses I bred them, ex trained them Daughter was the Jockey... then she got badly hurt in a race fall. Bev was the best female Jock in Aus and things just downhill from that incident.
So am selling up.. ex moved back to the Uk.All the horses have gone, wow that hurt so much, talking about the horses not the ex going.

How is your daughter now, Martia?

Will you be moving to more land of lesser size or off the land completely?

She is an incomplete quad that means all four limbs are affected but she can walk slowly, her ex left her at seven months pregnant after the accident. Our men sorta left like rats leaving a sinking ship.
So that left myself, Bev and my grandaughter Tara
But Bev has met a great guy tall blonde handsome with a great job he adores her! my job is done.

For the first time I can do stuff for me but What??? Forgotton how too. Bev is just engaged at Christmas.Oh google Bev Buckingham Jockey it tells what happened if any one is interested.

All I want is a beach somewhere to walk my dogs and I will be content. What would we do without these wonderful animals as we could learn what love and devotion really is from them.
I would like about quarter of an acre that will be enough.

That's such wonderful news, Martia. She has been truly blessed in the end. Yes, your job has been well done!hug

Have you started looking on realestate.com.au? Be relentless in your sear, do it every day, cos properties come and can be snapped up really quickly sometimes. You will get a good idea of what's around. If you find something in SA, let me know and I might be able to give you an educated opinion. Focus on what you want, with a clear vivid picture, see yourself there, feel the intense emotions as if it has already happened, and it WILL happen. Don't ever let doubt creep into your mind.

I actually went away for a couple of days to my lil house on the prairie. Me and my border, Jessiesmitten

It was physically taxing, cleaning the place all over again with all that had blown in, mainly insects creeping through windows/doors, but so good for the soul.

Late evening, we went over to visit the farmer and his wife next door, only to find he had passed away 2 weeks ago. Her b-in law and his wife were also there, and we sat around talking about Ted's life over a cuppa and her Chrissie cake (farm baked of-course. It was such a lovely 2 hours. Then they walked me home in the pitch black, though we had torches to light our path. The sky was clear and full of stars. Once home, I sat on the front verandah staring into blackness, to find it's not really black at all. There was Jess running off and bobbing up and down in the tall grass. What a change in her. None of her mischievous behaviour, pinching stuff and running off. So relaxed!

Weird though, I couldn't sleep well. You know, just like when you go camping. It was SOOOOOOOOO quiet!!!! And I swear a ghekko slid across my neck in the wee hours!

I woke up at the break of dawn, as all good farming folk do! laugh and as there are no window shades, I looked up, and there were the colours of the new day. I felt almost intoxicated walking around with the coolness of the morning air, and all around me, fields being lit up as far as the eye could see. Then got busy clearing a lot of the dry grass around the house, whereupon I nearly jumped out of my skin, thinking it was a snake but turned out to be it's left over skin it had (probably only just) shed! I'm going back next Sunday and stay overnight again, as I've arranged for someone to slash the land on Monday morning. Sorry to ramble, it was just so nice.

I did think, however, how much nicer it would be to share it with someone else.daydream You would have to be good with your hands, though. Lots to do around the place, you know.innocent

All those reasons you state in the above post is exactly why some of us prefer to live beyond our cities and towns. The people to me are real out in these parts generally speaking. One thing is for sure it is not the money so it must be these other things

Awww, Martia. What a lottery, indeed!comfort

Still, the fact that you are letting go of something, particularly as it has been such a huge, and positive part of your life, means that in process of letting go, you are creating space for something brand new, as is said. It just may be that you are being led into the next and most wonderful part of your life.

So choose wisely, and be ready to receive.angel

Thank you for your lovely comments.hug Yes, I often think of writing. Maybe I will get some inspiration at the 'farm', so I will take my lappy, and a note pad...no internet, that way I can write, but not on the forums! laugh

Ahh memories. Like a .....
(Good old Barbara)

Yes the Country. Love to go back, but then would miss the city. Both have their bonus's.
Wouldn't want to own a farm. But love to own house on someone else's farm. With the rights to get up and roam over the paddocks at will. Feed the chooks and help raise the the mis mothered youg during spring.
(No milking cows. Never learnt how and stuff getting up that early every morning. What happens if I wanted a dawn breaker.)

Its a great place to raise kids. I think they are taught more self reliance in the country.

I mean the sights of summer in the city. cool You can't see those views in the country sigh.
