You picked a dilly of a topic! There are several on here who love books and are voracious readers of all types of books; for most though, we have the impression that for most, just reading someone's profile is tatamount to reading an entire book!.
Myself, I rarely read any "novels" unless it is true and could not be published other than in novel/fiction form; depending on subject. Out of at least 3000 perhaps, maibe a dozen at the most are novels; but I do love sci-fi though, and have actually kept some. The reality of our world is far too fascinating for me to read mere fluff fiction.%)

Beverly Lewis books, I just finished one of her series, it had 5 books in it, it was all about Amish people, fiction of course, but very interesting and entertaining. I also like VC Andrews and Danille Steele, I have read allof hers except last 5 books or so, I got behind, can't keep up with her. lol

I've just gotten into "The Vampire Chronicles" (I'm reading "The Vampire Lestat" now) and I don't know why I never picked it up before. It's very engrossing for me. BUT, my absolute favorite so far has been "Satanic Verses" by Salman Rushdie.

I love Stephen King, and Anne Rice, but I love most horror novels, as long as they are well written, when you can see them in your mind, and they play out like a movie, they have done their job. I gave the gift of reading to my kids while they were very small, and they love to read now, so many people don't have the patience for reading, but reading is also about relaxation, so reading to your kids also teaches them to relax, and unwind; when you can sit down and get immersed in a book, stress is gone.

Yes, Dani, I agree, I think reading to your kids is the single
most important thing you can do for them. But not horror
novels, I hope! I read almost constantly to my daughter whenever
she was with me -- weekends, you know how it goes. I have
never developed much of a taste for horror novels myself,
though I guess I have read and enjoyed a few. I have read
science fiction and mysteries and such, but these days I seem
to like plain ordinary unclassifiable mainstream novels,
especially those of Mary Wesley.
