You need to make sure you are self-confident in yourself, and the background/life you have led... bringing all of your information to the table. I am sure you are intelligent, show that side of you with self-confidence and you will see a change in the way things are.
Before it's second-guessed, do not mix self-confidence with being arrogant. Women do not like arrogant guys unless they themselves are the same.. which could be a potential match, but probably not one you want ultimately.
