to become a doctor youve to do atleast 7 yrs then more before your an attending.. all in college at the highest level!
the same applies for most other important fields or positions in society....

now! and heres the crux of the matter...

these so called leaders or law makers(and breakers) are not required to do any college or degree for to run for gov.
its ridiculous in this modern day and age...imo

a family political name, a sporting past, or wealthy backers seems to be the only criteria..

yes i know most are drafted through clubs and cummans in 1st yr of college, but their chosen field of study could have no bearing on any political facts or decission making..

imo... a 3 yr course/degree level in a defined field..say social studys.. allows after degree obtained to run for dáil éireann..

granted many are intelligent well educated men and women...
but should it not be the very best that run the country?

i for one.. would love to see a proper c.v. in the future before i give them the job(my vote is the interview process!)

we`ll keep getting what we deserve untill this fundamental discrepancy is corrected...jmo mind!professor ireland

I agree there should be more of a tight rein on the elected canditates, i even think that some of the independents would do us a better job as they live in the real views and situations we all face daily.
When is the last time Cowen, Harney or any of them has lived in the real peoples world?
Not in last 20 years i reckon, they should be put on basic salary for a month and given a flat to live in with basics, then let them decide how to run the country.. thats what i think

You are right there. The fact is the vast majority of politicans don't know what its like to struggle. They grew up in comfortable middle class famalies and think they had to struggle in college because they had to buy Supermarket Brands.
They came from comfortable middle class famalies and a middle aged, middle class men and women in suits who have lost touch with the real people of the country.

Depends were you're sent really. If you're sent to Castlerea you will have your own little Home to share with another prisoner. Wouldn't fancy The Joy, Limerick , Cork or Port Laois though.laugh Sloppin out doesn't take my fancy. And definitely would not want to end up in Arbour Hill with the nonces.
Shelton Abbey, Wheatfield, Laughan House or Clover Hill might not be too bad.

True. The Joy is so over crowded now you might be on the floor on a skinny plastic matress. No shelter from the bucket splash down there. rolling on the floor laughing
