It is often said that someone is shallow if good looks and physique are important to them in a relationship. Some say that personality should be enough.

For those that need both and want to experience to the maximum every aspect possible in a relationship, does this not mean it will have more depth ?

Perhaps they are truely shallow if they rely on looks alone. many people are so much more , if only a person takes the time to get to know them. Yes, more depth.

Presumably if you are in a relationship with someone that person would be good looking /have a good physique in ones own eyes and have a lot of other things besides, personally I wouldnt want to be with someone that didnt tick all my boxes. Whats the point?confused

Either a relationship works or not, I don't think it revolves round just looks or personality, far to many unknown variables to say what makes a good one work

Personality and looks which get you feeling jiggy defiantly help tho (for me anyhow, just so as to not offend the deep intellectual non jiggys....)

Shallow people are not only based on good looks. My ex was not very attractive and she was shallow. Selfish, self-centered and no feelings for anyone but herself.

wave Yes, in their own eyes is a good point. What the current media portrays is irrelevant, it is the attraction between the two, as long as they are happy in their own skins and attracted to each other.

Back in the Renaissance period it was blump and voluptious that was in vouge looks wise unlike today's stick insect physique.

As long as there is that chemistry, that certain je ne sai que, that GRRRRRRRRR factor. Then it is complete, personality match assumed of course......wine bouquet

Well greedy folks like me who want their whole cake and to eat it too, both looks AND personality are important. I'd like to give a potential relationship at least a fighting chance at working (and while nothing is guaranteed of course) at least these two things do make for a nice starting place.wine

Thats it exactly the spark between two people "good looks" as such dont really come into it as far as Im concerned if the attraction is there then you will find them good looking anyway, wave

Yes, I agree there are many factors about character etc that come to light over time. But at the initial stage, the getting started bit, I need there to be both present to get it off the ground.... beer

Everyone's values are different but it is usually a combination of looks and personality that works, and this comes in different proportions for everyone.conversing

Ah starting out,

Usually:

WOW Cute!
Nice bum!!
Mmmmm very pleasant to talk to !!
Dang, that little thing she does makes my pants dance!!!

Then further down the road its down to traits and actions and beliefs as to if there is likely to be any longevity, once you get past the lust kinda stage little things can either endear you or drive you nuts in a bad way
