Yep you're so right, Last night I got stranded downtown due to snow and ice, the local taxi drivers wanted 5 times the usual rate to take me back to my campus because the buses had stopped running, I stayed at a cheap hotel which cost half what the taxi would have cost. And got the bus in the morning.
As for the hotels in Whistler, well I guess the Rose and Crown in Banff is doing a good trade

The Rose and Crown is a fun place but they must be busy. Makes me sick how people are so greedy.
