I would think being a cab driver is likely one of the most dangerous jobs--isolated, cash, someone could do a lot of damage and get away with it.....wouldn't be my idea of a great job....

Stan_147: You could learn from the Travis Bickel School of Taxi Driving.
I have heard of Cabbies carrying baseball bats underneath their car seats...crowbars or whatever to defend themselves... The good part of a cashless society...cash is pretty non-existent due to the debit/credit machines...so I think the cab drivers are not a good target these days... Since COVID...many barriers were put up to protect against the spread...some haven't bothered to remove them...

Correct. A couple days ago I outsmarted 3 guys with some kind of plan and the masked jerk behind me was the fasted to get out of my cab. I have no weapons/bats or knives in my cab. The mastermind and only person talking never even complained as he left. All I know is he wanted me to drive them down the highway so he could get his bank card so he could pay for the cab. A barrier would be nice.
Fadedbluejeans: On the other hand the nice feeling that I get when helping others make up for the few who try to scam or whatever. It is relatively safe in my city.
My comment was aimed more towards the safety of the public, if I were a cab driver.
Fadedbluejeans: I will never take a cab in New York.
Hello Mr Bjeans I once had to take a cab in NY city in the afternoon, it's been the spookiest experience i ever had. My driver was a HUGE guy from Jamaïca .... he was massive and impressive but cool, knew a few words of french and i could speak creole, so it all ended in a big laugh ! Good memories
My second odd experience in a taxi was not in North America but in Tunisia, where i had to accompany a good friend of mine just for 3 days. It's been extremely risky and dangerous as the driver's attitude was obviously problematical ... to say the least !
