I joined CS looking for a date and I have met some really nice people who became friends and I am cool with that I don't think I get a date from this site but I am ok with that I have made friends with people from around the world that I would have never met if it was not for CS so I am good with what I have gotten out of this site.

Im here because at this particular time in my life its not possible to socialise and meet people this is the next best thing for me..Im not looking to meet the love of my life ..`If he is out there I will be the first to know..so in the meantime Im having fun meeting lots of lovely folk....

Gives a chance to meet someone special when no other opportunity seems likely. I first hated the forums but more recently see its good to exchange with others on them, even if we seldom agree

You live in Southern Spain, it´s very easy to walk into a bar alone as a woman and chat to somebody male or female. That´s life here isn´t it? We are fiesta animals living our social lives en la calle.
"Dregs of society" is a bit harsh, but it may well apply to some peole here or on other dating sites, in fact it may well apply to many in my opinion given some of the stuff I´ve read here!
I don´t really understand why you use the excuse of not being able to strike up a conversation as a woman though, you come across as someone who could talk to anybody with confidence. It´s simply technology, our ancestors didn´t need online dating yet still managed to hook up. I didn´t meet my ex husband on a dating site, I don´t think they even existed then, and I certainly didn´t chat him up in a bar.
Do you feel guilty then? I don´t, though my grown up kids and family think I´m out of my mind for going on dates I meet here. I don´t particularly enjoy it for the dating and flowers/messages stuff, but that´s not why I come here. It´s the forums which pull me in, nothing more.

Oh you know Jan..gobby as I might appear, I am still reticent to walking in a strange bar..and I don't know about your part of spain but here they are very cliquey and all about gossip..I don't enjoy that so prefer to stay out of it..unlike you my spanish is still very basic so don't feel comfortable in the all spanish bars...but what the hell..when the mood takes me next I'll give it a go!
