Thanks, I was just curious, I watched it as I found it interesting but like most tv these days little attention can be paid to actual historical facts and more to what makes more interesting tv.

Created the Royal Navy for one,England was under extreme pressure from both France ans Spain, he started the building blocks which hes daughter continued to make England safe and the nation for it was to become in the future. They ensured by their absolute attitude to monarchy that a divided nation was not in the countrys interest. This of course has something to do with them wanting absolute power but it did stop England from being overun.
