Conrad73: The International Air Transport Association says the volcano is costing the industry at least $200 million a day.
Whatever. It's hocus pocus with figures as like my bussiness, if weather becomes a factor for shut down, I do maintenance and then put in longer days over the period following to catch up. Might take them days, weeks or months but catch up they will.
Here, you read this, the price will go up and, passengers will all be there albeit a few days late or, may have gone by ocean liner in which case, shipping companies make money. So, the money is not lost but rather delayed or redirected.
I heard one interview today where they explained that the economies of some African countries are also affected. They are unable to send out produce and it will probably have to be returned to the farms; some of it will be used as feed. People that packaged the produce could lose their jobs if they are unable to fly out all this food. I wonder if the cost of air travel will go up as a result of this.
