But all that ash would block up the dykes and Holland may end up under water.

The three eruptions previous to this one in this place have led to Katla eruption. She usually is from 10-200 times more powerful.

I think that many people are being blase about the worldwide business and economic implications if Katla goes off.

NonniBlues: Phew..... Not only are we the cause of the worlds economy crises. Now the gods are angry at us too.

The mount Eyjafjallajokull started erupting in the middle of the night. A big eruption possibly going to affect flying to and fro Europa to America in the near future.

When does it end.

The European air navigation safety agency Eurocontrol says that only some 5,000 flights will take place in Europe on Saturday compared to 22,000 in normal circumstances. On Friday, U.S. airlines canceled 280 of the more than 330 trans-Atlantic flights of a normal day.

The International Air Transport Association says the volcano is costing the industry at least $200 million a day. uh oh

Goddess4u: The world does seem to be rebelling a lot lately, with earth quakes etc etc. We need to treat her a bit better I think.

Earthquakes, volcano eruptions, typhoons, tsunamis, ... always existed. We are more aware of it because news get to us much faster than before. And more people are victims of these elements because there are more people on Earth!

Man achieved miracles in technology and sciences, but Nature still wins.
